Our Story
Bee EZ Apiary was organically founded in 2021 when Nick & I moved to the Lake Conroe area and had a little bit of land to work with. I wanted a garden and Nick, being the handy man that he is, made it so! The garden was beautiful! Long rows and raised beds, big bushy green bean bushes, tall sweet pea vines, trailing watermelons vines, but no actual fruit?!… The plants were growing tremendously but nothing was actually producing! Sitting in the garden pulling weeds one day I noticed how ‘still’ it was in the garden…nothing buzzing around…no pollinators. I knew in that moment that if I wanted my garden to survive and thrive I needed to introduce some sort of pollinator to my garden space! Upon a simple google search wondering who the best pollinator for my garden would be… the verdict was honeybees!
So ‘bee’lieve it or not, I went on craigslist and typed in Bees For sale and found a super nice homesteader about an hour and a half away that was selling boxes of bees. I coordinated with this kind soul to come pick up my first honey beehive!
After I acquired the bees and placed them on our property within 12 days everything in my garden started to produce fruits and vegetables! It was right then, and there that sparked my passion for these little pollinators! The direct impact that I got to watch them have in my little corner of the world showed me directly how important they are!
We all have heard of “save the bees” but getting to witness their magic first hand was really special to me!
I had Nick take a fun photo of me and my new beekeeping suit with my new honeybee friends near our garden and shared that photo on the Nextdoor app, along with a shorter version of my starter story, really just sharing my excitement for my newfound obsession!
Within 24 hours we had thousands of comments, likes, shares, and direct messages asking if we would remove Bees from their water meter box or if we sold honey or if we sold beeswax or if we sold Bees, and when I saw no other beekeeper commenting on the post advertising their services I told Nick that I thing we stumbled upon a niche small ‘bees’ness that could really serve our community and our corner of the world!
And thus Bee EZ was born! Nick and I dedicated the next six months of our lives to learning everything we possibly could about these amazing honeybees and how to best work with them not only for our benefit but mostly for theirs! They are the important ones in the equation after all! And now we are number one in our area for Bee removals/rescues! We supply our local community with wellness products from the hive including our beeswax healing salve and our Propolis extract every week at our local farmers market and have a beautiful following! I get to share the Bees with the next generation of beekeepers by bringing my educational programs to local elementary schools and hosting eager groups of learners at my education station for beehive tours and beekeeping classes!
We are so blessed that we buzzed into something so organically that is now not only serving our little family, but all of our friends that surround us in our beautiful home of Montgomery County!
